Plan Of Salvation
Have you thought about the next life?
Life is passing quickly, and some day we will die. But what is next? What will happen? Can a person have eternal life? God’s Word says - Yes! However, He says that we must face up to a few serious issues:
He says “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” All of us sin, don’t we? We all do wrong things with our hands and heart. And we all have the tendency to marginalize our sin. Some people say “it’s no big deal” or “nobody’s perfect”.
Be honest. Think about it, have you ever broken God’s Law? Remember the Ten Commandments? Here are just a few: “Thou (you) shalt have no other gods before me….Thou shalt not commit adultery…Thou shalt not bear false witness (lie)…Thou shalt not steal…” etc. Jesus taught that when a person lusts after a woman, that that is adultery of the heart. He taught that when you have hatred in your heart, that that is like murder of in heart. Have you ever had hatred in your heart? Have you ever looked with lust? Have you ever stolen something big or small?
There is coming a day when “God will judge the secrets of men”. God is a Judge who not only sees the sins of our hands but of our hearts also. As the perfect Judge he requires punishment for our sins – “The wages of sin is death”. A perfect Judge must carry out a punishment. Think about a prison. It’s a place where people who are convicted of law-breaking go. What if the judge in your town allowed criminals to go free? Would the citizens tolerate that? No they would not. Isn’t it reasonable to expect a judge to carry out honest judgment? Yes, of course it is. Then how could we expect God to be any less honest with His judgement? Jesus Christ warned men about the consequences of their sins. He told them of the prison of “hell”. He even sent warnings to the religious leaders of his day saying “how can ye escape the damnation of hell?” Jesus was not impressed by the put on of religious people. Whether you are religious or not, this is a serious matter to think about.
The good news is this: While God is a Just Judge; He is also a Merciful Judge. You see, He has provided a way for us to escape the sentence of hell.“God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. That means Jesus Christ suffered and died on that cross in your place, so you could go free. We broke God’s law, and a fine needed paid, so Jesus paid our fine on the cross. Then Jesus rose from the grave and defeated death. You can escape hell, by accepting the payment of Jesus in your place.
You might ask “Well what about heaven? Didn’t Jesus teach anything about that?” Oh, yes he did! Jesus said “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved”. He also said: “Verily, verily, (certainly) I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
Perhaps you ask “What must I do?” Here is the simple answer of scripture: “That if thou (you) shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”.
This means you can be saved by if you call upon the Lord by faith. Be honest about this. Confess to him your sin. Then tell him that you want to place all your faith in His Son Jesus Christ, to be your personal Saviour. Jesus says “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
